Once upon a time, in a kingdom ruled by a cruel and malevolent king, there lived a young princess named Adelaide. She was known throughout the land for her kindness, her intelligence, and her rebellious spirit.

One day, while wandering the dark forests surrounding the castle, Adelaide stumbled upon a hag’s cottage. Inside, the hag sat by the fire, stirring a cauldron of bubbling, foul-smelling potion.
‘Who are you, child?’ the hag cackled.
‘I am Adelaide, daughter of the king,’ Adelaide replied. ‘And who are you?’
‘I am the hag,’ the old woman said. ‘And I have a gift for you.’ She pulled out a small, black stone from her pocket. ‘This is a cursed stone. Keep it with you always, and it will bring you power and protect you from harm. But beware, for the power comes at a great cost.’
Adelaide, eager to gain power and defy her tyrannical father, eagerly took the stone and slipped it into her pocket. As she left, the hag called out, ‘Remember, my dear, the power of the stone is in your willingness to embrace the darkness.’

Over time, Adelaide’s desire for power grew stronger. She used the stone’s dark magic to manipulate others and gain control over the kingdom. She even began to toy with dark spells, causing fear and destruction wherever she went.
But the cost of the stone’s power began to take its toll. Adelaide’s once-kind heart became cold and cruel, and she found herself doing unspeakable things in the name of power.
One day, a group of rebels rose up against Adelaide’s reign of terror. They stormed the castle and overthrew the princess, throwing her into the dungeons.
But even in her captivity, Adelaide clutched the cursed stone, refusing to let go of the power it had given her. And as she sat alone in the darkness, she realized the true cost of her desire for power.
The cursed stone had not protected her from harm, but instead had caused it. And the power it had given her was nothing but an illusion, a facade that had blinded her to the darkness growing within her own soul.
Adelaide knew that the stone had to be destroyed, and with great effort, she managed to shatter it into a thousand tiny pieces. As the stone shattered, the darkness that had consumed her began to dissipate, and Adelaide wept for the things she had done in its name.
In the end, Adelaide was imprisoned for her crimes, and the kingdom slowly began to heal. But the memory of the cursed stone remained, a reminder of the danger of giving in to the allure of power, and the terrible cost of embracing the darkness within.
